The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences on Wilshire Blvd. is a great place to visit, especially for fans of older films.
They don’t allow cameras so this one will just have to be a written description.
The side street looked packed but there was a large spot less than half a block away.
When you entered you are asked for your ID from security who writes down who you are and gives you a pass to hang around your neck.
The exhibits change about three times a year so this description only describes what was there today.
The first floor had a very interesting array of movie poster art. The movies were from many eras but the really cool part is they had the sketches and line drawing so you could see the artist’s work progress…

A Sizeable Exhibit and Very Cool!
The exhibit continues on the 4th floor.
Interestingly there were old letters and old telegraphs highlighting discourse between producers, directors and actors.
There were examples of old make up kits and dresses from movies like Marie Antoinette (The Older Version) and armor worn in Ben Hur.
One area plays a looped roll of silent film clips while another plays scenes from early talkies.

This didn’t meet the challenge simply because it really is a movie museum and we covered the Hammer museum last week.
However the Academy has many theaters, a library and three locations. One is also nearby and is perfect for my last post for the challenge.
It is their library which is open to the public for research.
